Phone size comparison made easy

Most of us are big fans of our iPhones but have you ever compared it to other smartphones?

iPhone vs Lumia vs Galaxy

The web site Phone Size helps you compare smartphones. Not features but the physical size of one phone to other. Amazing how gigantic the Samsung is!

The Dell Streak 5 is so funny.

Looking at the three of them, the Lumia actually looks the best to me. The Samsung is too big, but the Lumia has a larger screen yet is almost the same size physically as the iPhone.

I hope the next iPhone follows that trend and has a display that is as close as possible to the size of the actual device. Make the display bigger (maybe making the phone a bit wider to accomodate), but at the same time make the device shorter by removing some of the non-display space at the top and bottom. I’ve even heard calls to move the home button to the side of the device which on one hand seems a bit inelegant, although could be more functional by making the home button easier to use one-handed.

The Lumina screen isn’t that much larger once you count the bezel surrounding the screen. The colouring tricks the eye into believing the screen is larger.

The iPhone screen has more pixels. The pixels are so small, you cannot see them. That is a major feature that iPhone users take for granted. You assume that other phones have that sharpness.

The generic phones often have “PenTile” displays that do not even have complete pixels. They are abysmal displays that can’t even render a simple photo with proper fidelity. iPhone users would likely take these phones back and say “I got a broken display” but there is no fix. That is the cheap piece of crap display that they put on there.

Maybe they should overlay those with an outline of a typical jeans pocket, suit pocket, cargo pants pocket, etc.
