91% of business pros use iPad for work communication

IDG Connect released the results of a new survey on Monday that shows 91 percent of business and IT professionals use the iPad for work communication rather than personal communication.

The study also showed that almost 25 percent of employers supplied the iPad to employees.

IDG also found:

  • 97% of professionals use the iPad for reading
  • 70% + now buy fewer physical books and newspapers
  • 72% of iPad owners carry their laptop less
  • 66% say the iPad has partially or completely replaced their laptop

If you think this applies to all tablets, think again. According to IDG, “the survey revealed a robust loyalty to Apple with 83% globally stating they would not consider buying a different tablet device next time.”

Sounds like some apple stats going on there. Should read ‘97% of professionals THAT HAVE AN iPad use it for..’  The way it is written makes it sound like almost everyone has one.

    • Completely agree, they got the stats all wrong.

I use my iPad every day for note taking, email correspondence, PDF viewing, and on occasion, acess to our companies remote desktop. In the evenings, my daughter uses it for movies and I use it for browsing and some gaming. Also, Twitter, Facebook and sometimes podcasts and music.

Why would you change when  you have kitted the iPad out with hundreds of dollers worth of software that you cannot transfer on sell with your iPad. Once you make the commitment you are pretty much locked in… unless there was an outstanding technical reason or financial reason to change. I have iPhone and iPad, they do what I need then to.

  • interesting research results. Nonetheless some metodoligical information(sample, number of participants, etc.) will be really useful for better understanding.
