Better blogging

Dan Frommer gives his advice on how to write a better blog. There are definitely some good tips in here.

One of my main rules for writing: Be honest with yourself and your readers.

    Cracks me up how everyone who thinks Frommer is an idiot (he often is) suddenly thinks he’s a logging genius.

    “Above all else, factual accuracy and attention to detail.” Yeah – and half the internet would shut down – including Frommer’s own writings.

    “Be more skeptical.” There go the rumor sites.

    “Be critical, but don’t be unfair. You’re not a jerk in person.” Don’t assume things, Dan….

    “Don’t be the 10th person to write the same thing.” And there goes the rest of the internet.

    on that whole 10th person thing. I agree. UNLESS you have something unique to add. Being the 10th person to reprint the same rumor word from word from 9to5Mac is bobo .

    Reprinting it and then adding your thoughts and analysis on what you think might be for real and what is just crazy talk. That’s actually potentially good writing.
