The Fisker Karma Hybrid car

Ian Hamilton:

But a roof with solar panels that help extend the range of your vehicle? Instant feedback so I can tell exactly how much my driving style impacts my mileage? An electric car that feels perfectly smooth as you drive? When you press the accelerator (not the gas pedal) it instantly moves? It doesn’t require gasoline but can use it if you need it? And it rides so silently it needs a noisemaker to let pedestrians know it’s coming?

I’m so jealous of Ian right now.

Buying a grossly overpriced car that gets no where near the claimed mileage, that was manufactured overseas with heavy subsidies from a US Govt printing money like it was toilet paper.  Yeah I’m really jealous too…..

Sure, it sounds cool, but for $100k, I’d hope it at least drives well. I still wonder if we’ll see electric cars at the same prices, and with the same range as our trusty gas guzzlers anytime soon… (My last purchase was a Toyota RAV4 that cost in the upper 20′s and gets about 300-325 miles between refills)

The more innovation we can see in automobiles, the better!  I’m especially pleased to see innovation in areas that doesn’t treat driving as something that requires an apology, sack cloth and ashes.  Driving a well mannered car on smooth winding roads is one of my favorite activities.  I’m glad to see more new options for the future.
