∞ Analyst predicts disappointing Windows Phone 7 sales for Nokia

John Paczkowski, AllThingsD:

“We believe that shipments of Nokia’s new Windows Phone 7 products have been lower than we had previously anticipated,” Faucette wrote in a note to clients. “We had expected that the company could ship as many as 2 million units into the six targeted markets for the holidays; however, we now believe that those shipments are likely to be less than 1 million for the quarter.”

It’s still early yet in Nokia’s ramp-up of Windows Phone 7 products, so it’s probably too soon to declare this a failure. But it does suggest that Nokia and Microsoft have an uphill battle against iOS and Android.

“Uphill battle?” They have to manage to even get on the hill before they worry about any sort of battle. As it stands, Windows Phone Anything and Nokia in general are currently making camp in a low valley, looking up with great envy at the hill.

It’s a shame windows phone is as ios or android but with a different stance! I guess other generation of consumers will suffer with the lack of offering caused by operators interest!

All they need to include is adobe flash into their browser, and also incorporate a hdmi connection in WP7 phones.
And soon enough they’ll see a big change, the software is amazingly good as it is, it offers simplicity and functionality ..however there are key features such as Adobe Flash that are missing ..which would be very helpful in letting customers make an easy choice and choose wp7 devices.

      Impressive trolling.
The HDMI bit gives this comment an air of sensibility, while hammering it home with the Flash argument.
      Nice one.

windows phone 7 is fantastic.. try it! It is fast, has a much better interface than iPhone or Android, is very solid – does not lockup. I can’t even list all of the advantages and yes.. I’ve tried iPhone and Android.

I admit I have a soft spot for WinPho7 and Nokia, just as I had a huge soft spot for Palm.
WinPho7 isn’t for me, but I can totally see many friends of mine and my mother using it; I think it’d be better suited for them than iOS.

I agree that they’re going to have to fight an uphill battle, but the reason I believe they might have a shot, is that Nokia traditionally built their software to fit their hardware, which was the focus of their innovation efforts.
Having a software company as a partner/final straw could help them develop more “complete” devices, complete in the sense of delivering a well integrated usage experience.
