∞ 34 Veterans Day pictures

One of my biggest peeves in life is how people do not show enough respect for the men and women that have served our countries.

This is a totally serious question, but who specifically does not show enough respect to service men and women, and what are Americans doing as a whole to disrespect them?  What can we do more specifically to improve that situation?

And what do these 34 pictures have to do with disrepect specifically?  They seem very respectful, and tell a solemn story, but I don’t see how pointing us to these pictures tells us a story of how they are being disrespected.

I’m coming at this from an artistic standpoint, not social or political one, and again it’s a serious question.

I can’t answer for Jim, but I think the problem doesn’t lie with citizens so much as our governments. I don’t know how it is in Canada, but the U.S. government hasn’t given as much support as I think they should to veterans who come home with conditions like PTSD and illnesses from combat-related chemical exposures.

I don’t know any people, no matter how opposed they are to war, who disrespect combat veterans.

Those pictures are very respectful, that’s why I posted them. I find a lot of people in Canada don’t bother remembering veterans and what they’ve done for us.

Beginning with the clowns in Parliament (mainly BQ’ers and supporters) who refuse(d) to wear a poppy as it was too Canadian.

Love him or hate him, Don Cherry is controversial (and a clown ;) but he is owed props for his dedication to our veterans.

Perhaps ultimate disrespect comes in the form of stealing the damn collection boxes from right under the cashier’s nose :(

The ones that really, really bother me are the “threeayears”. The people who, three times a year, (four during an election year) get so very, very concerned with Vets, then the other 360+ days of the year, want us to be quiet and okay with getting our benefits cut, our facilities shut down in the name of saving money or political points.

Most folks being not all up and out about OMG VETERANS is okay with me, I never know what to do with the attention anyway. Although the free food once a year is nice.

Those pictures do show the interesting problem. Most of them are about dead vets. The problem isn’t the dead ones, the problem is caring for the ones still alive and needing help.

Dead people are easy. A rake, a weedwhacker and a hose are all you need.

As a veteran I really see nothing wrong with these pictures, however I do see a problem with our politicians, most of them have never served in the military and have sent plenty of young men and women to do their bidding for them. In the case of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot. Politicians want what is best for them selves and the rest of us can follow them or go to hell. Its time that we as a people stand up ans say (ENOUGH, GET YOUR SH-T together or step down and let a real man do the job). The veterans have been shoveled around the world, done what has been asked of them with no complaints but, let one ask what his county men can do to help his family while he is doing his duty and they are left alone. ALL ALONE.
The comment that Dead people are easy is a true one, its the living that we had better start taking care of.
