∞ Apple takes on porn sites over iPhone domain names

Sam Oliver:

A total of seven domains featuring hardcore pornography have been targeted by Apple in a new complaint filed with the World Intellectual Property Organization. As noted by Domain Name Wire, all of the sites feature the word iPhone, but perhaps the most troubling is the iphone4s.com website, which features the same name as Apple’s latest handset.

I would have thought Apple had that one locked up.

Are porn sites really struggling to get attention that they have to resort to this?

I’m pretty sure this is one of the warning signs of the apocalypse in the Bible but I will have to double check.

The internet makes porn seem ubiquitous, and perhaps it is now more-so than in the past. But it’s not unlike other “vices” such as drug addiction and sexual perversion.

Choices can still and have still to be made whether to participate or not and how much of it to tolerate and at what distance from oneself.

But I think fears of apocalyptic consequences are unfounded for the most part. Just maintain your own integrity and encourage others you care about to do likewise.

They may have avoided a fight over iPhone4s.com before release (HA!) so as not to give away the name.

    So is iphone5s.com available?

Btw porn industry has done this forever, from the (humorous) similar movie titles to taking 1-900 numbers that are 1 digit off from “call Santa” services.
