That’s what I first thought, too, but the last couple of days I’ve had a nagging feeling, that…
…I’m probably imagining it, but…

I don’t dislike anything about my 4S specifically (hardware-wise), but are you also saying there’s nothing you don’t like about iOS 5, either? I can think of a few things, like, oh how the Notifications kinda suck (can’t delete individual items, can’t leave calendar events or weather on my lock screen, can’t reply to SMS notifications without leaving the app I’m currently in…).
Then again, there’s lots I’m happy about too such as the Music app (formerly iPod) finally showing compilations correctly (i.e. not littering up the Artists view with artists that are only on a compilation)… and the ability for other music apps (e.g. Rdio, Pandora) to show song info on the lock screen (seems only Rdio has been updated to support this so far).
If you say “Tea, Earl Grey, Hot” it flatly refuses to make tea. Complete fail.
So what would that be? Hypobole?

The only thing I don’t like is the fact that Siri dorsnt work properly outside of the US, they didn’t mention that in the keynote! They would have sold a lot less had they mentioned that I believe.
Like you, I was really hoping that the enhanced notifications would have all the features of the jailbreak app “LockInfo.” Specifically, more information (like weather and calendar events) persistent on the lock screen. That is my biggest disappointment, since the pre-release info talked about notifications and showed weather in the Notification Center, and talked about notifications on the Lock screen, therefore I made the assumption it would all be there.
The phone itself is a nice upgrade from the 3GS. I really like the Retina display, which is nothing new to 85% of the folks reading The Loop, I imagine. Personally, I prefer a rounded edge, like the 3GS, or the iPad 2 to the shape of the iPhone 4 or iPad 1, but I’m not losing sleep over it.

Yup, that was my assumption too. When I read about iOS 5 notifications a few months ago I thought “Finally, I’ll no longer have to jailbreak for LockInfo…” I also assumed you’d be able to reply to SMS from the notification center… because these things seem so damn obvious. Yeah, we have “multitasking” now, but even still when I switch from one app to the Messages app and back I often lose where I’m at. Having this sort of disruption just to reply to a text makes NO SENSE.
As it is, the notifications on the lockscreen aren’t any more useful than before. They’re just presented all at once instead of a series of pop-ups. Whoop dee doo.
I’ll never understand why they added something like Twitter integration, then chose to not fix more glaring problems. I’m a very tech savvy person, as are a lot of my friends, and guess what? NONE of us use Twitter. Not one. But we all use SMS!
I hate the fact I can’t have one until November 25th. That’s what I don’t like about it.
I just tried that on Siri and it gave me listing of restaurants nearby that serve tea, sorted by rating. Interesting.
Using the 4S with iOS 5 – it’s very nice ! Antenna – definitely improved.
But the battery life so far is not good, not good at all. So not good that I’m wondering if I got a bad one, or if they are all like this.
I can’t get thru 24 hours without recharging at least once. On the flip side, it seems to recharge much faster than the old one.
A coworker and I were thinking of things to ask Siri, and I asked, “Do these jeans make my butt look fat?” She responded with a list of clothing stores nearby. Thank goodness she didn’t give me a list of gyms.
Ok, I’m going to say this even though I’m going to come across as a whiney first-world douche bag: Apple still hasn’t fixed voice dialing over bluetooth with my Prius. There! I said it.
It worked when I first got the car, but broke with iOS 4.1. I was hoping it would be fixed with iOS 5 and bluetooth 4.0 but it’s still the same. I tell Siri (formerly Voice Control) to make a call and she says “calling XXX” and then it disconnects.
I filed a bug report with Apple a year ago (rdar://8522873). They said they’re aware of the problem and are working on it, but no love so far.
On the upside, when playing music over bluetooth the Prius display now shows artist, album, and song information.
I upgraded from a 3GS and the battery life on the 4S is far superior. It could be that the 3GS battery was getting tired but I don’t remember it ever lasting as long as the 4S lasts now. Maybe you did get a bad one.
If you haven’t found anything wrong, then you aren’t looking too hard. I’m saying that as a general rule – since I don’t have one.
From what I hear, battery life blows.
I don’y have battery issues because I turned off location for reminders etc.

one of my co-workers is sitting in the lunch room goofing off with his new iPhone. he’s trying over and over to get Siri to work but it’s all server problems, connection issues.
Finally he just yells “Siri, you suck”
and his phone replies “I’m sorry, I’m doing the best I can.”
and he’s now known as the douche that hurt his phone’s feelings.
The display is flatter and warmer than the iphone 4. It also does not pop like the iphone 4. My first 4S screen had a vely yellow cast and was replaced at the Genius bar.The second one is better, yet still disappointing.
The display. The first was so yellow and dim it was replaced on day 2. The second one is better, but not great. It lacks contrast and is warmer than the iphone 4;itjust doesn’t pop like the 4.
Also, it will not sync with my AT&T Micro cell. The 4 did.
Lastly, my iphone/ipad apple-approved car charger will not charge the 4S.
