∞ iPhone 4S sales top four million

Apple today announced it has sold over four million of its new iPhone 4S, just three days after its launch on October 14. In addition, more than 25 million customers are already using iOS 5, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, in the first five days of its release, and more than 20 million customers have signed up for iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push it to all your devices. iPhone 4S is available today in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK, and will be available in 22 more countries on October 28 and more than 70 countries by the end of the year.

Impressive for the iPhone 4S and iOS 5.

  • The “disappointment” voiced by “many” over the iPhone 4S is obviously FUD and a feeble attempt to deflate its impact.

    • But don’t you see, if it had been an iPhone 5, they would have sold 8 million! [yes, that’s sarcasm, for the uninitiated]

  • The “many” most likely were disappointed because they believed the rumors of a complete redesign. What I have found is that they do not represent the consumers in the real world. This isn’t the first time for them to underestimate a device/service. Remember the initial iPad announcement, and how some believed it would not be a success? I remember much time being spent discussing the name (and coining jokes) rather than the merits of the device.

I’ve got one complaint thus far about my 4S, or perhaps more appropriately iOS 5: I do get the occasional “freeze” on my screen, particularly if I access the camera roll from within the Camera app, rather than via the “front door” of the Photos app. Will take a photo, tap to go to the photo roll, and perhaps tap to delete it…and no response. So, not perfect (what software ever is?) but otherwise I’m over the moon about my new 4S.

  • The 4S is such a weak upgrade over the 4, that almost everybody I know who owns a 4 would love to get one right now. The two things they’re impressed by the most? The new camera and Siri.
