∞ Samsung offers Apple a deal

David Fickling and Ross Kelly reporting for the Wall Street Journal in Australia:

It wasn’t clear what benefit Apple would gain from any agreement, as details of the proposed deal were not discussed in full in front of the court. But Apple’s attorney, Stephen Burley, conceded there was some potential benefit from an agreement on the matter. “(Samsung’s) inconvenience would be diminished and we would be comforted” by such a deal, he said.

    I like Wil Shipley’s take on this…

“Look, you guys copied our iPhone, and you can either kill your product or we’ll sue you. See how reasonable I am?”

Given that this is about the injunction and not the actual case I’m guessing that Samsung offered to put in writing now what they would pay in damages, how fast they will remove their products from sale (and what penalties if they miss that date) etc should they lose the court case in exchange for Apple dropping the injunction request and letting the sales start. They might have even agreed to additional damage amounts per unit sold

A spin if you will on the reverse which is required in the EU to even request an injunction should the requester be found in the wrong
