∞ Video: iOS 5 vs Windows 8

Winrumors.com did a comparison.

I always find the Windows defenders comments to be amusing on the Youtube site.
Aside from that it looks like an interesting tablet. I wouldn’t buy it simply because I just don’t like the way Microsoft designs UI’s but that’s me.

I hate saying it, but… Metro looks pretty good to me. I think the real test isn’t going to be whether or not it can hold its own against the iOS interface (which it clearly can), but if it’s going to bring the standard Microsoft behaviors with it, i.e. crashing, flaky behavior, inconsistency, etc. etc. If it somehow manages to pole vault past that, I’d look at switching.

On an ARM tablet it will be all new and won’t have any of the Windows architecture in it.  It won’t run any Windows programs, everything will have to be rewritten for ARM tablets.  So hopefully it won’t have the typical Windows crash attributes.  Problem is they are starting from scratch with no Apps, it will take several years to get to where iOS is now.  The ARM version of Windows 8 will not be the same animal as the desktop version, the desktop version is just the old Windows with a new start menu called METRO.  Both versions of Windows 8 will be able to share data but not software just like iOS and OS X.

IOS 6 will be out by the time Windows 8 officially launches

And iOS 9 will be out before Windows 9.

One minute into this video, and I truly wish the narrator could stop twitching his palsied hand over each device without actually doing anything useful.

Metro looks good. If its champions at Microsoft can keep the Windows management team from screwing with it, it might actually turn out to be useful.

The proper comparison for this $1500 Windows device is both a MacBook Air and an iPad, at $1498.

I’ve got a soft spot for this UI.
I’m looking forward to trying this myself sometime next year 0.o

The two most intriguing features were the browsing experience (absence of Chrome) and the search feature, which looks brilliant.
