∞ MG Siegler on the TechCrunch backlash

Information is all that matters. All the rest is bullshit.

And Techcrunch, like so much of tech journalism, is too often too full of bullshit and not enough information.

For example, Siegler’s article says, “no one person even reads posts by any other author before they are posted.” That’s never a good thing if only because, a few paragraphs later, he writes, “The site wouldn’t functional as well that way.”

I bet the irony is lost on him…

I guess editorial accountability and journalistic integrity just get in the way of “kicking ass”.

Siegler claims that people believe TechCrunch is run like the New York Times. Really?

Which people would those be? Those who’ve never read a real newspaper in their lives?

No editorial oversight, no curation, no standards.

I continue to wonder why someone of Siegler’s caliber stays at a place like TechCrunch. He’s far better than them and is selling himself short by staying there. I cringe every time I hear about the latest insightful piece from Siegler…posted over at TechCrunch. I want to read it, but I hate going there to do so. I feel dirty afterwards. TechCrunch, regardless of the drama with Arrington this week, will always live in his shadow, and that’s a shadow that no one should want to be in.

I enjoy reading most of Siegler’s stuff, he’s one of the better writers in the tech sphere, but this looks to me like he’s trying to convince himself he’s not working for a rag.

Sorry, but this is apologetic bullshit.
