∞ SF Police now confirm they helped Apple search for iPhone 5

SFWeekly:

Dangerfield says that, after conferring with Apple and the captain of the Ingleside police station, he has learned that plainclothes SFPD officers went with private Apple detectives to the home of Sergio Calderón, a 22-year-old resident of Bernal Heights. According to Dangerfield, the officers “did not go inside the house,” but stood outside while the Apple employees scoured Calderón’s home, car, and computer files for any trace of the lost iPhone 5. The phone was not found, and Calderón denies that he ever possessed it.

Does anyone know what’s going on over there?

    Certainly doesn’t sound like it.

I still think this whole story is a hoax.

The guy must have sold it on Craigslist not knowing what it really was. Battery probably died or that was the last known locale of the device.

Wait what? The police stood outside while Apple’s hired detectives went inside and searched the house?
    Warrant anybody?

This whole thing needs facts and proof.

Allegedly, the dude gave permission for the search, but still. I do realize we already live in corporate America, but the notion of police standing guard as corporate security enter a private residence is very ominous. I have to believe there is more to this story because I don’t want my image of Apple tarnished.
