∞ Acer says MacBook Air, iPad are 'short-term phenomena'

DigiTimes:

Acer founder Stan Shih has commented that the fads for ultrabooks and tablet PCs are both short-term phenomena and urged companies in the notebook supply chain to come out with more value-added products through innovation.

You keep telling yourself that.

LOL! This guy obviously had a bit too much hooch in is orange juice this morning. Oh well! This statement just got locked in ‘iCal’ for future reference & laughter.

    “more value-added products through innovation”
He could have at least offered a concrete alternative, instead of this MBA-style bullshit.

He’s right you know.  In a few years time we’ll all go back to using chunky laptops with serial ports and cd-burners.

Blackberry’s will also become fashionable and functional and the car will be replaced by the horse.

    Progress…

Hahahaha. Acer keyboards suck as well.

How very wrong! The same way Dell dismissed the iPod, which of course paved the way for iPhone. Apple is continuously building the worlds most powerful brand and this affects their products in the future as well.

Hey, he IS right! But he’s referring to all the “copy crap” out there right now. But he doesn’t have to call on Apple for innovation. More on the way, for sure!

    One word:

    Retro.

I think Mr. Shih just wants to be the CEO of RIM. ;)

Another short term phenomenon is owning an Acer laptop. They seem to have a bad habit of falling apart.

I fully expect that when it comes time to replace my wife’s aluminum MacBook, its successor will be a MacBook Air.  My next machine will probably still be a full-thickness 17″ MBP, but I do see those eventually going the way of the iPod Classic.

With stupidity like this it seems that Acer will be short term! Time for a new leader for Acer shareholders!

This clown sounds a bit like my Representative in Congress, whose “reports” to constituents are less about actual bills he’s sponsored than bullet-point lists of “things we must do to balance the budget.”

How the hell can I get CEO-pay to spew bullshit, rather than do it for free, like I do now?

LOL he’s basically thiniking: “If I wish for something not to happen, it won’t happen!”

Last year I purchased the Mac Book Pro from Apple Outlet store.  This was before the new Thunderbolt and quad core processors were being sold  or I would have waited a little longer for the better product. Just the same, this is the only Apple product I own and I am a frim believer in Apple products and ins their store. I have been to the store once for a purchase and once for a workshop class.  All of the employees were cheerful and helpful. I can not imagine anyone saying something against the Apple company or their products. They are made so well and function so nicely and have good service.
