∞ Sandvox updated for Lion, offers iWeb transition deal

Karelia Software has updated its Sandvox Web site creation software to version 2.1. The update is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 “Lion.” Sandvox 2 costs $77.

Sandvox offers users a visual method for creating Web sites, using an interface similar to page layout software. The Web sites that Sandvox creates are HTML5 compliant, and supports JavaScript, jQuery, PHP and more.

In related news, Karelia is offering iWeb users a limited-time crossgrade discount of 25 percent on Sandvox.

iWeb, the Web page creation software Apple includes with the DVD version of iLife ’11, hasn’t been upgraded in this new version. What’s more, with Apple transitioning from MobileMe to iCloud, iWeb’s usefulness is diminished – the software works best when posting pages to a MobileMe-hosted site.

As a result, Karelia is encouraging iWeb users to “graduate” to Sandvox. The discount applies to single user, household and site licenses.
