∞ Duke Nukem Forever headed to the Mac in August

Aspyr Media on Monday announced that they’re bringing Duke Nukem Forever to the Mac in August. The controversial game was released in June for consoles and PC.

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Duke Nukem Forever is a first-person shooter created by 3D Realms and Gearbox Software. The game features a cigar-chomping, crewcut-wearing musclebound hero determined to save the Earth – and lovely ladies – from the clutches of vile alien scum.

Duke Nukem 3D made a big splash in the 90s late in the Doom era, and Duke Nukem Forever was announced not long after. But the development of the game took 14 years (and two game studios) to finish, leading Duke Nukem Forever to make it on more than one video game pundit’s “vaporware” list.

Duke Nukem Forever features plenty of crude humor and pretty ladies in distress who need to be saved from aliens and pig cops (literally, porcine cops) as Duke himself uses over-the-top weapons. There are plenty of silly diversions along the way, like shooting hoops, lifting weights, reading girlie mags and more.

Calling Duke Nukem Forever “the high-octane video game equivalent of a Hollywood summer blockbuster,” Aspyr says the game will be available for same on Valve’s Steam video game download service and will support Steamworks features and Steam Play. No specific Mac system requirements have been announced.

The game is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
