There are a lot of questions surrounding the transition to iCloud for existing MobileMe customers, so Apple posted an FAQ to let everyone know what’s going to happen.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Most of the existing services like Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Bookmarks, Find My iPhone, and Back to My Mac will be available in iCloud. iWeb publishing, Gallery and iDisk will not. Those services are being discontinued.
There are also a number of new services that Apple will introduce with iCloud. Those include iTunes in the Cloud; Photo Stream; Documents in the Cloud; Automatic downloads and purchase history for apps and books; and Backup and restore.
Apple says you will be able to use and access your iDisk, iWeb sites and photos even after you move to iCloud, but you will only be able to use them until June 30, 2012.
Apple also noted that if you had an active MobileMe account as of June 6, 2011, your service has been extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. MobileMe will be discontinued after that date.

I wonder if a number of people who are now complaining about MobileMe going away also complained about it during its existence.
No iDisk, eh? Nice. I’ve spent years paying for that service and filling 40gb of data there. Really stupid move, another step away from the pros who put Apple on the map and towards the consumer level.
I’m sorry, but iDisk was definitely never a “Pro” feature … Nothing lasts forever, just be glad that they gave you a year to find out alternatives, i’ve seen services like that shut down over a few weeks
iDisk was only unique in that it was Apple-branded. Other than that, there are a variety of alternatives that provide the same functionality, and more.
I liked MobileMe for the ability to sync stuff like contact, bookmarks, etc; I also used iDisk to move docs from my laptop to my iPad to my desktop. I thought it was worthwhile for those features. But it was one of those odd products from Apple that inspired no passion; just a shrug and a “meh, overall I this it’s useful.” But those things will be done so much better with iCloud; *that*, I’m excited about.
