Konami and Marvel announced Thursday the release of X-Men Arcade, the first mobile adaptation of the classic coin-op cabinet arcade game that made its debut in 1992. It’s a universal app that runs on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and costs $2.99.

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]You can play as one of six X-Men: Cyclops, Colossus, Wolverine, Storm, Nightcrawler or Dazzler, as you battle Magneto and his army of Sentinels and evil mutants on the way to Asteroid M.

Features include drop-in multiplayer capabilities with support for up to four players over a local Wi-Fi connection. The game has been crafted with enhancements to touch-based controls and the ability to customize the interface – you can place virtual buttons where you want.

X-Men Arcade features support for social networks including OpenFeint, Facebook Connect and Game Center.

System requirements call for iOS 3.1.2 or later.
