∞ GarageBand for Mac doesn't support GarageBand for iPad… yet

One of the things I was really looking forward to when GarageBand for iPad was released was sharing my songs with the Mac version of the app.

[ad#Google Adsense 300x250 in story]I tried doing this tonight, but it didn’t work out so well. I was able to export the project on the iPad and save it to my computer, but I got the following error message when I tried to open it.

This song requires a newer version of GarageBand. Please update to the latest version of GarageBand before opening this song.

Unfortunately, I am using the latest version of GarageBand. I think Apple will release an update sometime soon to fix the problem.

I don’t recall seeing that in any of the reviews I read on the iPad or GarageBand today.

Good to hear. I thought There was something wrong on my end. Odd that no reviewers bothered to test this…

BAAAMM! Have the same problem just now, browsing through the net to find an answer with no luck!
I hope Apple are fixin’ this update very soon.

An other thing that stroked me odd was the restriction of 10 sections.
I was using 8bars sections and couldn’t add more after the 10th.
A way around this is to use larger sections like 20 bars or so.

No support for anything other than 4/4. As much as I wanna love GB for iPad, it’s nothing more than a really appealing time sink for me without it. I can’t imagine meter support would be that difficult. Still going to get it for $5… once they fix GB iPad->mac compatibility, I can work on comps on the iPad, then open in Logic.

I’m assuming if GB for Mac compatibility is broken then Logic is munged as well?

Same problem with export here! :-(

You can export to Logic, it imports fine. Curious, but true. Just doesn’t open in GarageBand yet.

      Good catch!
