∞ Samsung Galaxy Tab: A whole lot of nothing with a 7-inch screen

I’ve seen reviewers pick apart some products in my years of writing about technology, but Gizmodo’s review of the Samsung Galaxy Tab leaves nothing behind but a carcass.

[ad#Google Adsense 300x250 in story]To say that Gizmodo didn’t like the Galaxy Tab would be a huge understatement. In fact, the only thing they did seem to like is the battery life.

Here are a few choice quotes from the review:

“There is no way to not feel like a total dorkface while typing on this thing.”

“The Tab feels like a grab bag of neglect, good intentions and poor execution.”

“This thing is just a mess. It’s like a tablet drunkenly hooked up with a phone…”

“The browser is miserable, at least when Flash is enabled. It goes catatonic, scrolling is laggy, and it can get laughably bad.”

“The Tab is like a compromise’s evil twin, merging the worst of a tablet and the worst of a phone.”

The thing about this review for tablet-makers trying to compete with the iPad is that this is indicative of the type of coverage they can expect.

Is it wrong that because it’s Jizzmodo, I’m inclined to feel sympathy for the Tab?

And there is no respite for the Tab or the other pretenders to the iPad’s throne, for, if reports are true, AT&T’s contract, which, inter alia, requires that any iOS device that has native telephone function run on AT&T’s network, will end in 2011. That means that Apple, sometime in 2011, can elegantly put cell phone functionality in the iPad and all iOS devices to run on at least one other major network beside AT&T.

i prefer the iPad… It just seems like the “copies” is good when they arrive, but with the next release of iPads they are behind again… lots of competions this days to win one as well, if you dont have one… Have you noticed the new campaign from the it security company sophos… easy to win if you like to share things… :) mostinvincible.com
