∞ Apple introduces Magic Trackpad

Apple on Tuesday took the wraps off the Magic Trackpad, a new $69 accessory for desktop Macs designed with the same multi-touch capabilities as the trackpads that grace its MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops.

Featuring the same aluminum design as the Apple Wireless Keyboard, sitting flush at the same angle and height. the Magic Trackpad works identically to its laptop counterparts, except it’s larger. It connects to a host Mac using Bluetooth wireless technology.

The Magic Trackpad supports the full range of gesture commands, including two-finger scrolling, pinch to zoom, rotating using your fingertips, three-finger swiping, activating Exposé and switching between applications using four fingers. The Trackpad system preference pane lets you customize how you use the device, activating or deactivating specific gestures.

    SWEET!

I have been waiting for this kind of thing for so long — instantly ordered!
The Magic Mouse is a great little device, but I honestly think that for day to day usage —not gaming obviously — this is the better way to compute.
The increased size will make using this even better, my pre-unibody MBP’s trackpad will look puny compared to it.

    How puny you ask?
Just as puny as my beard looks compared to THE BEARD.

I just wanted to add that the trackpad really is huge.
If I measured correctly, the dimensions should be roughly 136mm in width and 134mm in depth, with the tracking area having a depth of about 114mm.

That was on my wishlist after getting my MacBook Pro. Can’t wait to move off mice.
Looks like they put out a multi-touch update too.
    Ordered!
