∞ AmpliTube for iPad gives you a portable guitar rig

With the release of AmpliTube for iPhone and the iRig adapter in June, IK Multimedia gave users the opportunity to play their guitar using amps and effects. On Thursday the company announced AmpliTube for iPad, which utilizes the extra screen space.

The iPhone and iPad versions are very similar in features, but it’s what the company did with the layout that makes all the difference here. The iPad version gives you control of most of the parameters in one screen, which saves a lot of time tapping and searching.

According to IK, There are up to five amp models to choose from (clean, crunch, lead, metal, bass) that offer full tonal and drive controls; 11 stompbox effects (delay, flanger, phaser, overdrive, distortion, filter, wah, fuzz, octaver, chorus and noise filter); five cabinets (1×12, 2×12, 4×12 A & B, 1×15); and two microphones (dynamic and condenser).

There is also room for 36 presets that can be created and saved in the app.

A free version that comes with one amp is available from the App Store. The full version with all of the amps and effects costs $19.99.

Stay away from IK Multimedia if you don’t care for spam. They don’t honor their own removal links. And they will bombard you forever, even if you call them to be removed.

They are such a scammy operation. The software doesn’t sound that great anyway.

@Chuck, in defense of the actual product, it’s pretty slick. I mean it’s gonna put Line 6 and their pod off the market I’m sure :) well not really, but seriously the app is half decent and you don’t have to deal directly with IK to get it any more.
