No doubt San Diego being in the top three is at least in part due to the San Diego Mac user group, which formed in the Spring of 1984. They have been the biggest MUG for many years.

Yeah, but cause or effect? I sincerely doubt many consumers are running out and buying Apple products because there's aware that a MUG is in the area. I think it's much more likely that the MUG is large *because* of the concentration of Apple users, not vice versa.

Having just returned from San Francisco on a vacation, I can tell you that it had to be about 8 out of 10 people I saw had white earbuds hanging off their heads. And I can honestly say that every time I NOTICED what type of phone someone was talking on, it was an iPhone.

Virtually every computer I saw was an Apple. Hotels had iMacs in the lobby, businesses had them on their desks… car rental places, you name it. And everyone I saw hanging out with a laptop was an Apple.

Made me want to move there…
