∞ Shawn King delivers a smackdown on Forbes columnist

No other company in the world can generate the type of hype that Apple can. What’s more, Apple does nothing to actively participate in that hype. Forbes.com writer Amy Bell says that Steve Jobs and Apple hype their products like no other company. That little mistake got the attention of technology pundit Shawn King and he delivered an audio rebuttal on his Your Mac Life Web site.

I don't think it's correct to say Apple does nothing to actively participate in the hype of their products. It's true that the pre-announcement hype is all done by those outside the company. But once Apple demonstrates a new product, they do hype the heck out of it. Personally, I think the products tend to live up to their hype. But we ARE talking about the man who coined the phrase "insanely great." That's a phrase worthy of the late, great Douglas Adams in its beauty and craftsmanship. From a amount-of-praise-per-words standpoint, that's peerless.

I didn't follow any of the links, so I might be arguing off-topic. Sorry. Fingers broke, too lazy (FB,TL).

Here's the definition of hype: "a deception carried out for the sake of publicity".

      Apple doesn't deceive.

No company, no individual flourishes and prospers over the long term via deception. Deception is the bread and butter of mass media writers. Many such individuals are convinced that others are like them, so they're convinced that that is what's going on.
