∞ Rome: Total War Gold Edition headed to Mac

Feral Interactive on Tuesday announced the forthcoming release of Rome: Total War Gold Edition for the Macintosh. It is planned for release on February 5, 2010 for $29.95.

Rome: Total War combines real-time and turn-based strategy elements in a setting based on the conflicts of ancient Rome. You lead one of the great Roman houses into battle as you capture settlements, conquer provinces, ferry troops at sea, stage fleet blockades, build more advanced units, and manage a steady flow of income to keep the gears of your war machine turning.

Scenarios stretch from the late Roman republic to the early Roman empire, staged in campaigns from Europe to North Africa. The Gold Edition also includes Barbarian Invasion, an official expansion pack that was first released separately.

It’s been about five years since Rome: Total War first debuted for the PC; Feral is releasing the game as part of their “Feral Legends” series of games.

System requirements are relatively modest – they call for a 1.66GHz or faster Intel-based Mac with 512MB RAM, 128MB graphics card, DVD drive, 5GB hard disk space and Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later. Intel GMA-based Macs like older Mac minis and MacBooks are supported.
