SuperDuper update improves speed under Snow Leopard

By Jim DalrympleOctober 13, 2009, 8:10 am PT

It’s not often that we cover software updates, but when the product being updated is backup utility SuperDuper, we’ll make an exception.

Shirt Pocket Software released an update for SuperDuper on Tuesday, further enhancing the speed improvements made with the 2.6 release. The update also improves Snow Leopard support by preserving OS file compression.

Of course, SuperDuper includes many new features like “Backup on Connect,” “Eject on successful completion” and support for the Sparse Bundle image type.

SuperDuper 2.6.2 is a free update for registered users and supports both Intel and Power PC Macs running Mac OS X 10.4 or later, including Snow Leopard. While the unregistered version will perform full backups for free, registered copies open up additional features like Smart Update for faster backups and scheduling, among others.
