Apple is resigning its membership in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce because of disagreements over environmental issues, according to a story on the Washington Post.
Apple vice president Catherine Novelli told the group in a letter explaining the company’s decision.
“Apple supports regulating greenhouse gas emissions, and it is frustrating to find the Chamber at odds with us in this effort,” said Novelli. “[As a result] we have decided to resign our membership effective immediately.”
While Apple has been quick to support regulation of greenhouse gases, the Chamber of Commerce has been a critic of legislation aimed at reducing emissions, according the Post.
In an email statement on Monday, Chamber spokesman Eric Wohlschlegel said that “while we’ll continue to represent the broad majority of our membership on this goal, we recognize that there are some companies who stand to gain more than others with the current options on the table.”
Apple is the fourth company to pull out of the Chamber of Commerce in the last several weeks.

“Apple supports regulating greenhouse gas emissions,…”
Does this mean Steve Jobs and Apple is giving up their gas hog (passengers to fuel efficiency comparison to operate) polluting corporate jet and “take the bus so to speak”, flying commercial like the rest of us?
