It’s a big day for The Loop. Three industry veterans, Peter Cohen, Paul Zampitella and Ed Prasek have joined the team in various positions.
Former MacCentral and Macworld editor, Peter Cohen (pcohen [at] loopinsight.com), is taking the role of Executive Editor at The Loop. Besides being one of the most respected journalists in the industry, Peter is also one of my best friends. I’m really looking forward to Peter’s contributions to the site and his ongoing analysis on trends in the industry.
I’ve known Paul Zampitella (pzampitella [at] loopinsight.com) for a number of years while he was the Publisher of Macworld. Besides becoming great friends, Paul and I understand each other and the goals we have for the business. As Director of Advertising for The Loop, Zampitella will work closely with companies to ensure their advertising needs are met and exceeded.
Last, but certainly not least, is industry veteran, Ed Prasek (eprasek [at] loopinsight.com). After serving 10 years in Apple’s Worldwide Developer Relations, Prasek formed his own very successful marketing company, Spin Studio. The Loop has been working closely with Spin Studio from the beginning — today I’m pleased to announce that Spin Studio will be overseeing marketing and business operations for The Loop.
Like I said, it’s a big day for The Loop. I believe I have assembled some of the best talent in the industry to drive The Loop forward, continuing my goal of making it the best resource in the industry.

Excellent news guys!
Jim, with this influx of talent and manpower, perhaps you could tell us readers in what direction The Loop will be going editorially and business-wise.
Can we know, for example, what yours and Peter’s reasons were for leaving MacWorld?
Fantastic news. Macworld’s loss is indeed Loop’s gain.
Congratulations, guys, and all our best wishes for the future.
Great news to start the week. Congrats Jim!
This is my new home page!
Best of luck to you all! Great news that Peter is in the Loop!
Hey Peter! Great to see you working with Jim again! Just one more reason to read the Loop everyday! Welcome aboard!
Great news! I look forward to reading this site even more!
Excellent news for all involved.
And I hope having multiple contributors will mean you’ll have a chance to review and edit each others’ work. Typos are really beneath the calliber of people working here.
@Daniel: Neither left voluntarily. (That sounds odd, as I’m sure neither of them had to be escorted out. But the reason in both cases is “Macworld downsized.”)
Ugh. “Typos are really beneath the calliber of people working here,” was meant in the nicest, least assholish way. But yes, it reads like I’m being a jerk. Sorry.
Congrat’s Jim, and Peter! (and Ed too, although I don’t think we have met). As marketing life cycles turn, it appears that Macworld declines and the Loop is ascending. Le Roi est mort, vive le Roi!
@Steven Fisher
Hmm. I see! Still would like to hear something from either of them.
Hey Daniel,
Peter and I were both laid off from Macworld. I started The Loop shortly after leaving as a different type of resource for Mac and tech users.
Does that include AppleScript articles?
Congratulations guys! Look forward to the new content.

@Jim Dalrymple
OK, Jim, thanks for the info. I was getting pretty irritated with a couple of the writers, like Moren who was too much of a cynical hack and too negative. After expressing a few too many of my opinions on that, I was locked out from posting on their forums.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you mean by “different”. Obviously, we’ll be seeing more music-related stuff. But I’d just like to see more upbeat news about Apple and its products, hopefully without all the critical media-type spin Macworld’s been more and more guilty of of late.
Congrats,,,,3 more reasons to come back every day….
Jim,
Good luck to you and your web site. I’ve stopped by a few times in the past, but I’ll try to make the Loop a regular visit going forward. I’ve enjoyed your work back from the MacCentral days. Things don’t look to good for Macworld these days and that’s unfortunate. Their print magazine is almost non-existent anymore and their online stories seem to be mostly rebadged PCWorld / Computerworld articles. Usually companies lay off their lesser quality staff first, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
In any case, good luck with your new web site. I’m confident you’ll do well.
Good to see you Steve! I’m pretty sure this marks the end of my interaction with Macworld. (not that I did much there to start with) After they digested the MacCentral forums it just killed that “home” feeling. Right now I feel like I’m just floating around clinging to a few names that are familiar hoping I can hang on to some part of what I had at MC. Twitter helps, but it tends to be a one-way mirror most of the time. Anywho…
Thanks Steve. It’s good to see you around here!
Heart congrats to Peter and Jim and the rest of the Loop team. From you I’ve not only learned about the latest Mac tech and entertainment, you’ve helped me learn how to write about it! I’ve bookmarked the site.
Thanks Loren!!
Congratulations, Peter!
Your presence on this site really gives this Mac News website credibility.
I have bookmarked http://www.loopinsight.com in my browser’s menu bar folder called “Mac News” along with http://macsurfer.com/, etc.
I’ll keep following your articles.
