TechSmith on Tuesday released Camtasia, a screen recording application application for Mac users.

CamtasiaCamtasia allows users to record whatever happens on their computer screen, including audio and video. Once a recording has been completed, you can apply a variety of effects and transitions and then export and share the recording from within the application.

The application can be used to record marketing material, training or any number of things that you might want to show other people.

Camtasia includes TechSmith’s SmartFocus technology which allows you to automatically focus in on parts of the screen. You can also apply a zoom effect manually to focus in on a particular part of the presentation.

The company said it is possible to add multiple audio tracks, and virtually unlimited video tracks to layer on images and additional video for depth. You can also add webcam and DV video camera footage to create picture-in-picture or side-by-side presentations.

You can export your finished movie to iTunes, Screencast.com or YouTube from within the application. You can also choose to export it to disk.

Camtasia is available for purchase and download from the company’s Web site for $99.
