It’s hard to believe, but the National Football League is getting ready to kick off another season. Whether you’re in a fantasy football league or you want to track your favorite team, the iPhone has a way to help you out.

NFL 2010Here are six iPhone apps to get you started:

CBS Sports Mobile: Direct from CBS, this app delivers sports news and scores for your favorite sport, including the NFL. An update is expected for the app so you can also login and control your fantasy football team. This is a free app.

ESPN Fantasty Football 2009 Draft Kit: ESPN aims to give you all the tools you need to get your team right this year. It includes the 2009 rankings and projections for more than 500 players. This is a free app.

Fantasy Football Cheatsheet ‘09: This $1.99 app provides up to the minute player news, injury reports and team depth charts. IT allows you to create multiple drafts and ranks more than 500 players.

MyFantasyTeams — Professional Edition: Here’s a $3.99 app that lets you manage your Yahoo Fantasy Sports teams. If you use Yahoo’s Stats Tracker, your teams stats will be updated in real-time on your iPhone using this app.

NFL 2010: At $4.99 this game will help you pass the time while you wait for the next game to start. With real teams and players, this app includes the full rosters for the 2010 season.

ESPN ScoreCenter: Our final app is another from ESPN. This free app will help you keep on top of all the scores for the football season. In fact, it has scores from over 500 sports leagues around the world.

I really hope the NFL takes MLB’s lead and develops an app that lets you listen to games and even maybe see video. I tell you there isn’t a score and update app out there that could hold a candle to listening or watching the thing happen.

To me it’s one of the best apps for the iPhone/Touch and worth every penny.

If Vick can play football, I can listen to or watch an out of town game.

    Love the site.

    Out.

Another App: ‘NFL Stats’. This $0.99 App contains a database of all games played since 1985. It allows users to define searches on team performance (yards passing, rushing, 1st downs…) using graphical icons. Displays results in natural text. Search qualifiers and comparisons between teams.
