Lollapalooza, one of the U.S.’s biggest festivals, is just three days away. If you’re planning to attend this year’s multi-day music event and you have an iPhone, there’s some good news for you.
There are actually several apps that you can use for your days at Lollapalooza, including the official event guide app. Appropriately called, Lollapalooza, this app includes information on the full line-up of artists, including where they are playing.
You can also see a list of who’s playing in the next two hours, you can see the line-up for a particular stage at the event and sync with your custom schedule from the Lollapalooza Web site.
The Lollapalooza app is free to download from the App Store.
Transportation is always important when attending a large event like this, especially if Chicago isn’t your native city. Buster: The Chicago Bus Tracker will give you the local bus schedule and how long the wait is. This app costs $0.99.
Guide Map Chicago will act as your pocket companion while in Chicago, including the ability to show your current location on the map. You can also access information about taxis, trains, and airports. This app costs $1.99.
Other apps that you can use to gather information on Lollapalooza are SPIN Mobile, a free app; MusicFest ’09 a $1.99 app; and TentFinder, a $1.99 app that does exactly what it says.
If you’re going to Lollapalooza, have fun and be safe.

Too bad ATT&T’s service will crap out and the app will be totally useless just like for Coachella. ATT needs to step it up for this thing to even be useful.
Very cool App guys!
justin is right on. we are near Buckingham Fountain and Grant Park and with no events going on I often lose 3G in that area and can’t reliably make or receive calls within our condo which overlooks the area. And that’s without any event going on. Bring in a crowd for an event, the 4th of July or Venetian nigh fireworks, marathon day etc and all bets are off. Good luck although some of the Lollapalooza app’s functions are available off-line if I’m not mistaken so it may be helpful. Just don’t count on making calls to your friends to let them know where you are at so they can find you. ATT sucks in downtown Chicago.
Any chance of an ACL app? Assuming ATT has service in Austin.
Not impressed with this app
Well, the App worked completely fine because it didn’t work off of the internet.. It was definitely a huge help!
Wasn’t there, but I hope it worked better than AT&T did during Chicago BluesFest 2009. The inability to hold a call while sitting in a chair and the frequent 3G dropouts were beyond disappointing.
My experience is that AT&T is basically unusable when a whole lot of people go to Grant Park.
I strongly recommend also checking out Lonely Planet’s Chicago City Guide, it has a great map, a great guide book, and nearby info.
It currently misses transit maps (both bus and trains), but it’s still a great guide to use when sightseeing the windy city.
Honestly your phone should be the last thing on your mind at a festival, and the best part about a festival is to get lost.
I agree with Jake, why do you even wanna pull out your phone, it might get damaged or lost during the festival. Just go out and have fun experience the festival without the fancy technology. Oh, man I wish I went to Lollapalooza, Tool is playing!!
