The App Store turns one today. Apple is recognizing the occasion with a special page showing some of its favorite apps.
A note on the birthday page reads:
Light a candle and cue the music. Okay, forgive us for sounding like doting parents, but we’re just so proud–having watched the App Store go from promising newcomer to full-fledged revolutionary. To celebrate its first birthday, we’ve gathered some of our favorite games and apps. Part fun. Part function. Entirely amazing.
Apple should celebrate. The App Store has been an amazing success for the company in the year that it’s been available. In fact, it’s been instrumental in the overall success of the iPhone and iPod touch.
With over 50,000 apps available for download, Apple has pulled another rabbit out of the hat with the App Store. Despite increasing competition from BlackBerry, Nokia and Palm, Apple continues to dominate the hearts and minds of app buyers.
The store has had its problems, especially with the approval process, but overall satisfaction has been high. It’s good to see Apple recognize this day.

Imagine how good it would have done in a good economy?
Pull a rabbit out of a hat? I think there’s an app for that.
LOL! There definitely has to be an app for that!
